I agree, guild capes should have an option to be turned off or on

I almost disbanded my guild yesterday just to be rid of the damn cape. A toggle would be much appreciated.

Here's my viewpoint - make them toggle-able in town. And when you are having a nekkid dance party in front of Grenth waiting on favor. If I take my clothes off to dance, the cape should automatically come off. And for christ's sake, why won't my ele armor dye the same blue as my cape? No matter what color mix I use, it turns out pale baby plue, while my guild's cape is a vivid blue. I am beyond annoyed with dye right now.

What about a badge instead of a cape when the cape is toggled off. A badge on the front left side of the chest or for those whose armor is naked on the chest, on a buckle at the waist or armband or such. Would make everyone happy, no? Heck just an armband with your guild colors instead of a badge would work.

I just had a crazy idea. Make your underwear your guild colors when your cape comes off. Yeah baby!

I accidentally started a new thread on this because I couldn't find this one the other day
http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=32395
has to do with options instead of on/off
badge/buckle/cape/etc...what do you guys think.

I don't see why people still come up with elaborate, half-witted ideas and excuses, when a simple toggle when not PvP'ing would solve all our problems.

Some people want to be identified by guild but not have a big hankerchief hanging behind them. Since most people look the same because the costume options aren't the greatest in this game it would be nice to have these kind of options. Apparently you can tell who everyone is on sight by not mousing over them and finding their names or having the CTRL key pressed down all the time. I'd like to know what your secret is so we can stop debating having these kinds of options.

I'm afraid this won't help much
1) Badges will ruin the looks of armor just the same
2) They're even worse, because you surely can't distinguish something as small as a badge (or a handwrap) from any other badge
3) They would take more time to implement, because there would be lots of new graphics to design, whereas simply adding an toggle on/off ability can't take that long.
So just make Guild Capes toggleable

I'm not saying to not make them completely toggleable, I'm saying for those who want them, to have these options since there are so many people complaining that people MUST have some way to identify themselves but don't want the hankie flying in the wind. There is a difference.
1. Less visible, less ruin.
2. The armor is detailed enough that you can see them.
3. I know that you don't wave a magic wand and implement something. It was worth suggesting to those who want to be identified by something other than a cape.

Slightly off topic:
Gold sink:
One nice thing for those who actually -like- their capes would be to 'purchase' upgraded cape logos. This might involve an "elite" set of emblems (usable only by X number of guilds) that AN keeps on hand and/or the ability to upload custom logos. Of course, these would need to be approved by AN and would then become 'public' property.

My elementalist already has a trenchcoat, why would he wear a cape over it?
And my monk doesn't like looking like superman.

aNet still hasn't put in the /cape feature, so it's not toggleable yet, and I gave up on them a long time ago because they're probably working on a new dance-sync option and other important stuff, but here's a workaround how you can toggle capes:
Get in the water and sit down.
I haven't checked it in all waters but the water in the early Ascalon has magic powers and makes your cape invisible.

Good old water
Well it seems we have to wait another week for the next patch, which is fine, since a patch every 2 weeks is ok. I hope they make capes toggleable... I really want to join a guild, but not till they don't force me to wear a cape 24/7

i haven't read this thread in over a month, so i might have missed a lot of things, but:
after i deleted my old guild with capes+guildhall, i made a guild without a cape for 7 people last week. i bought a sigil a couple of days ago and tried to buy a guild hall but the cantha person said i needed a cape to OWN a guild hall so they can "put our guild cape design as banners".
i can understand the need for capes during PvP, but capes are totally ugly and unnecessary in PvE. cape toggles for the win, please.

It seems silly you need to have a cape to get a guild hall, why not just allow people to buy banner designs?
